Oh, what can I say about Vegas that everyone doesn’t already know? Even though I don’t feel like it was one of the most mind-blowing vacations I’ve ever taken, it was still worth visiting. All the lights, glamor, and nakedness really didn’t push my buttons, but it was definitely bright.
While the hotels are incredibly extravagant, they are quite costly. At least the ones on the strip are. You can get some better deals if you look into hotels downtown. The strip is really where you want to be though. It’s in walking distance to just about anything you will want to do in Vegas. There are thrilling shows to see at most hotels, buffets worth sinking your teeth into, five star restaurants to splurge on, and that’s just the beginning. The nightlife is unlike any other and goes all night long. Whether you’re looking to gamble a little or a lot, they accommodate the rich and poor alike who are all there looking to win their next million. But be careful, the casino is not prejudice of whose money they take.
The best part of our long weekend was when we drove to Hoover Dam. What a marvel! It’s hard to comprehend all the work that went into building it and all the lives lost. Built by Six Companies, Inc. between 1931 and 1936 it was a feat for its day. Nothing like it had been built before. Costing almost $50 million, its flowing water from the Colorado River generates power for public and private utilities for Nevada, Arizona, and California. Created by the dam is Lake Mead which is the largest reservoir in the US. We spent quit a bit of time here and the tours are something you will definitely want to invest in.
I feel like we missed out on quite a lot Vegas had to offer simply because it’s just not our style. However, I suggest that you get a Vegas visitors guide before going. There is just so much to see that it can be overwhelming. Don’t expect to walk down the street hoping you will be able to take it all in because it never works out that way. Plan your trip as much as you can ahead of time and don’t be too upset if the tour you make for yourself gets sidetracked. Whatever you do, don’t bet it all.
